Where to Get Your Sports Physicals

PRE-PARTICIPATION SPORTS PHYSICALS

Whether you’re a parent of a North Olmsted Eagle, Olmsted Falls Bulldog, North Ridgeville Ranger, Westlake Demon, Avon Eagle, Avon Lake Shoreman or any of the western Cleveland suburb fine athletic departments, you likely need to get a physical for your child before they can start their athletic season.

With the upcoming sport seasons –  football, soccer, cross country, lacrosse, golf, tennis, volleyball, kick team, cheer-leading, flag team and more all quickly coming upon us it is time for your athletes to get their pre-participation physicals performed. Getting a non-emergency appointment with a physician can be difficult, not to mention lengthy and expensive – depending on your healthcare plan, and although some pop-up clinics perform sports physicals, they’re usually priced higher and come at the mercy of whatever poison ivy or chicken pox case is waiting in front of you.

Convenient, Fast and Inexpensive Sports Physicals in N. Olmsted

In an effort to make this process more convenient and accessible for local athletes and their parents, Superior Spine Care has implemented a community service program that allows student-athletes to obtain their physical exams here in our N. Olmsted office.  Our office is close to the corner of Crocker (where Stearns turns into Crocker) and Lorain – minutes from N. Ridgeville, Westlake and Olmsted Falls.  Call ahead of time and we should have you in and out in less time it would take at a physicians office or pop-up clinic and the cost of the physical is only $30.00.

What’s the Purpose for a Sports Physical?

The purpose of the sports physical is not only to determine the general health of the athlete, but also to screen athletes for conditions that may predispose the athlete to injury to themselves or fellow athletes. Because we desire to discuss specific at-risk health concerns, we require that a parent or guardian accompany athletes to their appointment. The parent or guardian should also bring any pertinent medical records regarding previous evaluation(s) for any non-typical existing conditions.

Please make sure to bring the medical form you were provided by your athletic association with you to your scheduled appointment.  (The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OSHAA) Form for the 2015-2016 school year can be found here.)
